| FORD AND CLERKSON PROMOTED AT DENNIS PUBLISHING; MARK MACDONALD HIRED AS GM FOR STUFF MAGAZINE |
 |
New York, NY (February 11, 2002) --Dennis Publishing, Inc. president Stephen Colvin announced today three major personnel moves intended to further strengthen its ranks as the company rapidly grows.
Maxim magazine's general manager Lance Ford has been promoted to executive vice president, publishing and joins chairman Felix Dennis, Colvin, CFO John Lagana and directors Robert Bartner and Peter Godfrey as a member of the board. In his new position, Ford will work with Colvin in building sales, marketing and branding initiatives across all Dennis publications. Additionally, Ford will assume the duties of general manager at Blender, Dennis' successful new music magazine that burst out of the gate strongly last spring.
Ford had been with Maxim since its inception in 1997, initially as publisher and for the last year as general manager. During this time, Maxim has enjoyed staggering success in both circulation and advertising revenue.
Moving into the general manager's slot at Maxim will be Andy Clerkson, who as Stuff magazine's general manager, took the publication to an astounding 1.1 million rate base in less than three years, and more than doubled its ad revenue in the past 18 months alone. Clerkson was the launch editor-in-chief of Stuff and moved into its general manager role a year and a half ago.
The new general manager for Stuff magazine is Mark MacDonald, formerly the president of Publisher's Business Services, an affiliate of Synapse, the world's largest circulation subscription agency. Previously, he had been the VP, media and e-commerce partnerships for Internet retail powerhouse Buy.com. MacDonald has an impressive magazine publishing history, as group publisher for Men's Journal and Family Life magazines at Wenner Media for six years and a number of years at US News & World Report.
"These moves compliment our recent hirings of CFO John Lagana, formerly with Wenner Media, and brand development director Barry Pincus, previously with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia," explains Colvin. "I am now confident that we have the appropriate senior management to foster Dennis Publishing's continued growth."
Lance Ford lives in Greenwich, CT, Andy Clerkson lives in New York City, and Mark MacDonald lives in Westfield, NJ.
