STUFF MAGAZINE TAKES THE "GOLD" PRIZE AT THE 2ND ANNUAL EX AWARDS FOR EVENT MARKETING
New York, NY (April 29, 2004) - Stuff magazine, the #2 men's lifestyle magazine in America, is the Gold Winner in the category of Best Activation of an Entertainment Sponsorship at the 2nd Annual Ex Awards given by Event Marketer magazine.

In the competition, Stuff was the only magazine nominated as a finalist.

Stuff's prize-winning event was executed for advertising client FILA at the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans. Stuff constructed a FILA-branded London-style double-decker bus in the artist compound, the vehicle wrapped in FILA images and ad campaign artwork, including oversized FILA pillows. Stuff leveraged its relationships with many of the festival performers by getting them to board the bus and pick out complimentary FILA gear. Artists such as George Clinton, Cypress Hill, and Mos Def were later seen wearing FILA clothes onstage during their performance resulting in millions of impressions.

"Throughout the three-day event, FILA received an invaluable increase in brand awareness through access to all of the performing artists on the exclusive FILA bus," explains Stuff associate publisher, marketing Aric Webb.

The Ex Awards is considered the first serious competition that recognizes creators of outstanding event and experiential programs. According to Event Marketer magazine, "The Ex Awards are 100 percent about pure Grade A events. The program is judged by a panel of heavy-hitting experiential marketers and is primed to become the sought-after trophy in the event marketing arena. The competition is open to marketers, agencies, suppliers, and manufacturers involved in the event, sponsorship, mobile, hospitality, production, nightlife, retail, trade shows, and field-marketing arenas."

The magazine explains that "event programs are emerging as the marketing medium of the 21st century, where the many 'established' marketing disciplines come together to support a LIVE expression of the brand. Accomplishing it all in a way that is relevant, entertaining, and engaging - and did we mention flawlessly executed? - takes creativity, talent, skill, experience, and, ahem, guts."
