| BLENDER HIKES RATE BASE 28% TO 525,000 CIRC MORE THAN DOUBLES SINCE 2001 LAUNCH |
 |
New York, NY (June 2, 2003) Dennis Publishing's pistol-hot music magazine Blender announced its fourth rate base increase in just over two years of publishing. The magazine's rate base will jump 28%, from 410,000 to 525,000, effective with the January 2004 issue. Overall, extraordinary sales have lead to a more than 110% increase in circulation since Blender's debut in May 2001.
Blender was Advertising Age's Magazine Launch of the Year in 2002.
Editor-in-Chief Andy Pemberton shared his enthusiasm for the magazine's unstoppable success. "We are absolutely delighted to achieve this kind of circulation climb. We're like the Beatles coming to the rescue of Pepperland at the end of Yellow Submarine. We've brought great songs to a country of bored music lovers who've had nothing good to read. Blender has something for everybody and keeps turning people on to their favorite artists as well as new ones."
General Manager Lance Ford chimed in: "I'm not surprised since Blender is an addictive fix. Where else in one place can you find the unusually broad range of artists we cover, or the 200+ reviews every month, or the irreverent personality and tone. On the ad side, page gains year on year are through the roof, up 232% (albeit with 2 additional issues, frequency increased to 10x in 2003). Advertisers have recognized Blender's growth and momentum and want to align themselves with Americas new musical reference point."
Blender is being audited by the Audit Bureau of Circulations for the first half of 2003.
