| MOVING PICTURES' FIRST VH1 TV SPECIALS AMONG YEAR'S TOP NETWORK SHOWS |
 |
New York, NY/Los Angeles, CA (July 13, 2004) - The first two VH1 TV specials produced by Moving Pictures, DPI - the TV/DVD/film division of Dennis Publishing -- have proven to be among the most successful new programs on the network this year and were the highest-rated telecasts for the weeks in which they premiered, according to Moving Pictures head Peter Jaysen.
Maxim Hot 100 originally aired Sunday, June 13th, was the highest-rated telecast of that week, pulled in higher ratings in the same period by 21% over the prior four-week average, and continues in regular rotation on VH1. The production took one of Maxim's most famous franchises and go-to casting guides in Hollywood and created the ultimate "it" list for TV: a countdown of the women in celebritydom who have been absolutely on fire over the last year. The special features exclusive interviews and cool behind-the-scenes footage with Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, Ashanti, Rachel Hunter, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas, and Michelle Branch, along with comic interludes with Usher, Colin Quinn, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Probst and Jerry O'Connell.
Blender's 50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever is a two-hour special hosted by George Lopez which premiered on Wednesday, May 12th and still continues in broadcast rotation. This show not only was the highest-rated telecast in its premiere week, but it was the highest rated of the eleven "25 Greatest" or "50 Greatest" specials that air on the network through the year. Ratings for the show were a staggering 89% over the prior four-week average. Blender's 50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the songs that made you shake your heads, roll your eyes, laugh, and gag because they're so horrendous.
"These two specials are just the tip of the iceberg," explains Jaysen. "Nobody creates, produces and markets entertainment to the key 21-34 demos better than Dennis Publishing. You can expect to see more triumphant productions that reflect the attitudes and tones of our magazines in television and film now that we've set up shop in Hollywood."
