MAXIM GOES TO THE MOVIES WITH NEW LINE
Studio and #1Men's General Interest Magazine Enter Unprecedented Partnership

Los Angeles, CA/New York City, NY (October 10, 2002) New Line Cinema and Maxim magazine, the world's best-selling men's general interest magazine, have entered a unique first-look deal to produce films under the banner of "Maxim Presents" in the films' titles, it was jointly announced today by Toby Emmerich, president of production for New Line, and Stephen Colvin, president of Dennis Publishing US.

This is the first pact between a studio and a major consumer magazine on this wide a scale since the 70's.

Published in the United States since 1997, Maxim took the magazine industry by storm by carving its own niche among affluent young men and now boasts a paid circulation of 2.5 million, making it by far the #1 men's general interest magazine in the U.S. Maxim is the best-selling men's lifestyle magazine in the world, with editions in 16 countries and a total worldwide audience of 12 million readers. Maxim was honored as Magazine of the Year by the two top advertising and marketing trades Adweek (2002) and Advertising Age (2000).

Johnny Levin of William Morris Consulting brokered the deal with Colvin and Christopher Godsick, vice president of production for New Line. Godsick will be overseeing the deal for the studio.

"Maxim is the fastest-growing men's magazine in America because it speaks to its audience," Emmerich said. "It doesn't take a big leap to get how the Maxim brand and sensibility could be used as a great starting point to develop some compelling films." Godsick added, "Maxim is not only a hot brand to readers all over the world but it's a magnet to talent. Our deal with Maxim is unique and we're excited about collaborating with them."

"We are delighted to be entering into a partnership with New Line," says Colvin. "Both companies are on the leading and cutting edges of our respective fields. Maxim has put millions of people into movie theater seats over the past five years, so the possibility of translating this into actual Maxim-branded movies is very exciting indeed."
